I’ve always had an affinity for Norfolk and it’s kept calling me back over the years. I grew up in the county and my friends and family are here. You’re never far from the beach, and Norwich (where our previous property was situated) is one of the best cities – terrific theatre, lovely restaurants and great for children. But my husband Alex and I wanted to move away from the traffic, noise and lights of the city centre to somewhere more rural where our children Lily and Lola, could have more space to grow.

We had been looking for the right house for years. Days were spent on the phone to estate agents, evenings were consumed with scrolling hopefully through Rightmove, and weekend plans had to fit around any viewings we might have. We even got the sense we were annoying the estate agents!

So, we contacted Jamieson Property Search to help us find the right house for us. We immediately felt at ease with Jamie, he came to see us and we liked him straightaway. We talked to Jamie about a property we liked that had previously been online but was no longer on the market and somehow, he organised an appointment for us to view it!

When we drove up to what is now our home and fell in love with it on the driveway – my gut feeling told me that this was ‘the one’.

You don’t always want to lay all your cards on the table with an estate agent, but as Jamie was on our ‘team’, we had an honest conversation about budget and how there could never be a more perfect home for us than this one.

The first thing I noticed when we began working with Jamie was the credibility it gave us with the sellers. Working with a property finder showed them that we were serious as we had already invested in the process. And it gave us confidence in the sale – we had the comfort in knowing that we couldn’t be gazumped as the house wasn’t even on the market.

Jamie advised and supported us through the process and in particular, the negotiations. I know that without him, we wouldn’t have secured it. His knowledge, skills and experience – from instructing the survey and liaising with solicitors through to completion – made Jamie absolutely indispensable and we couldn’t commend him enough. In fact, we have already recommended him to our friends!

House hunting can be so stressful and time-consuming. You can fall in love with a place only to have it snatched away before you’ve had the chance to act. A lot of houses are sold before they are even on the market. But this is where working with Jamie can help – if it’s out there, he will find it and you’ll have the certainty, like we did, that you’re doing everything possible to find your next home.

As for us, the move to the countryside has made so many positive changes to our lives. The children love the garden with its old trees and secret garden. Lola will just pop on her wellies and play outside for hours, feeding the birds and looking for animal tracks. We’ve set up an infrared camera in the garden and have captured some amazing deer footage which the girls are very excited about.

We’re only a few miles from Norwich so Alex is close to work and we can still head into the city easily. But we love the quiet serenity and closeness to nature (and lack of street lights!) that our new home gives us. We can also enjoy having more friends to visit now we have more space.

Our next project at the house is to put our stamp on the hall. We have commissioned Norfolk-based artist Chole Mandy to hand-paint the wall of the 40sqm space with flowers, which we hope will be complete by summer 2018.

This place isn’t just a house, it’s our forever home, and it’s thanks to Jamie that we’re here.
